Ruben Amorim has defended Rasmus Hojlund’s lack of goals and insists that Manchester United’s low scoring rate is a team issue.
United’s 1-0 defeat at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday meant that Hojlund has found the net just once — in last month’s victory at Leicester City — in his last 28 appearances for the club, dating back to December 12.

Amorim pointed out in his post-match news conference that United need more goals from all players — their league tally of 38 goals in 33 matches is the lowest in the division outside of the bottom four.
“I think we need to (take him out),” Amorim said of Hojlund, who is United’s only fit senior recognised striker following a season-ending injury to Joshua Zirkzee. “I think if you look at the games, we have several players that missed big chances, not just Rasmus.
“But for Rasmus, the game is to score goals because he is a striker. But it is a team thing. I have already said that. Our team should score more goals, it is not just Rasmus missing chances, it is all the team.”
“The only way I know is to work on him, show him the videos,” Amorim added. “He needed to score a goal, he will not score if he’s out.
“So I try to manage that during games. But he needs to score one, maybe that’s all a striker needs.”
United enjoyed the majority of opportunities and possession against Wolves, but Pablo Sarabia’s 77th-minute free kick won the game for Vitor Pereira’s side.
United return to action with a Premier League trip to Bournemouth on April 27 before contesting the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club in Bilbao four days later.
