Depois de perder na estreia, o Botafogo venceu a primeira na Libertadores ao bater o Carabobo, também indo aos mesmos três pontos dos argentinos. A chance do Glorioso embalar em busca da classificação virá nesta partida, além de também tentar tirar pressão de Renato Paiva, com os tropeços no Brasileirão (a derrota para o Atlético-MG na última rodada) aumentando o tom das críticas.
A grande dúvida do treinador para este Estudiantes x Botafogo é Barboza, que sentiu problema muscular e corre risco de não jogar nesta quarta. David Ricardo pode novamente alinhar ao lado de Jair como titular. O restante do time estará à disposição do treinador botafoguense, que poderá alinhar basicamente o mesmo time da partida contra o Carabobo.

Prezident FIA Sulajím připustil úpravu kontroverzních pravidel
Prezident FIA Muhamad Sulajím naznačil možnou změnu pravidel, konkrétně přílohy B Mezinárodního sportovního řádu. V tom se uvádí pokuty za sprostá slova a jiné kritizované postihy závodníků všech šampionátů spadajících pod FIA.Na sociální síti Instagram zveřejnil Sulajím příspěvek, ve kterém vysvětluje, že současné znění sportovního řádu konzultoval se závodníky všech sedmi šampionátů FIA a dostal od nich podnětnou zpětnou vazbu.Současné znění pravidel je platné od začátku aktuální sezony. Podle něj se nadávky v průběhu oficiálních akcí a závodů trestají přísněji než dosud a za opakované prohřešky hrozí jezdcům zákaz činnosti. Základní pokuta za první prohřešek je 10 tisíc eur (asi čtvrt milionu Kč), ale ve formuli 1 se automaticky všechny pokuty násobí čtyřmi, takže už první prohřešek znamená milionový flastr.Prvním pokutovaným jezdcem se stal Francouz Adrien Fourmaux.
