Magdeburgs Kapitän ist zurück!
Beim 30:27 gegen die Rhein-Neckar Löwen stand Christian O’Sullivan (33) nach seiner Knieverletzung erstmals wieder im SCM-Kader. Noch ohne Einsatz, aber dafür mit Gänsehaut pur!
„Das war richtig, richtig krass. Ich kriege es auch jetzt, wenn ich daran denke“, sagt O’Sullivan zu seinem Comeback in der ausverkauften GETEC Arena. „Man vergisst es ein bisschen, wie das Gefühl ist und wie viel es auch bedeutet. Das hat mich wirklich beeindruckt. Es gibt fast kein besseres Gefühl.“
Sein Fazit nach fast drei Monaten Verletzungspause: „Ich fühle mich sehr gut jetzt. Es fehlt mir noch ein bisschen Power, aber mein Knie fühlt sich gut an – und das ist das Wichtigste.“
[–>Am Mittwoch (18.45 Uhr/Dyn) geht’s im Champions-League-Kracher gegen Veszprem (Ungarn) – ist der Kapitän da schon wieder eine Option für Spielzeit? O’Sullivan kurz und klar: „Absolut. Ja.“
Und dann? Der Titel-Endspurt läuft – und der Norweger weiß, was es jetzt braucht: „Wir haben zwei Spiele pro Woche und müssen einfach versuchen, unsere beste Leistung abzuliefern. Ich glaube, das wird das Wichtigste – dass wir ein hohes Level erreichen jedes Mal. Das ist halt schwierig. Wir merken auch, dass wir zuletzt mehr verschießen und technische Fehler machen.“

Das 30:27 gegen die Löwen war dennoch ein Statement: „30 Tore gegen die Rhein-Neckar Löwen – das ist eine gute Nummer. Das ist eine gute Mannschaft.“
Was ist noch drin in dieser Saison? O’Sullivan bleibt realistisch – aber kämpferisch: „Gerade ist es schwierig, einen Titel zu holen. Denn es ist nicht nur abhängig von uns. Wir müssen halt unseren Job machen. Und hoffen, dass die anderen in der Bundesliga scheitern. In der Champions League ist alles möglich.“
Am Mittwoch kommt mit Veszprem eines der besten Teams der Welt: „Sie haben ihre Gruppe deutlich gewonnen, das wird eine Herausforderung. Aber: Wir spielen zu Hause. Es gibt nicht viele Mannschaften, die uns hier schlagen. Wir gehen rein mit einem guten Selbstvertrauen und wollen gewinnen.“
Letztes Jahr besiegte der SCM Veszprem bereits in der Gruppenphase. O’Sullivan: „Wir wissen, was möglich ist. Aber sie haben einen neuen Trainer und einen anderen Kader. Wir müssen unsere Top-Leistung bringen – sonst haben wir wenige Chancen.“

Getty Images On Friday, the University of Kentucky's board of trustees approved a proposal to transform the athletic department into a limited liability company called Champions Blue, LLC. The move represents a radical shift as college programs continue to adjust to an impending decision from the United States District Court that could lift restrictions on the sharing of media rights revenues.Kentucky's newest venture is thought to be the first of its kind among major universities in the United States. Pětibojařka Hlaváčková je ve finále Světového poháru v Budapešti
Pro Barboru Hartmanovou, Kateřinu Váňovou a Veroniku Novotnou, která v maďarské metropoli loni vybojovala osmé místo, skončila soutěž ve čtvrtečním semifinále. Stejně v pátek dopadli Matěj Lukeš a Vojtěch Dáňa, už ve středeční kvalifikaci skončily naděje Jana Tomana a Marka Grycze.Hlaváčková se na čtvrtou příčku ve skupině B posunula v závěrečném běhu kombinovaném s laserovou střelbou, před nímž figurovala na 12. místě. Ve finále byla v Budapešti i před rokem, kdy v něm obsadila poslední 18. pozici. Novotné k účasti ve finále nepomohlo ani vítězství v šermu v „béčku“, v kterém byla nakonec dvanáctá.
