Travis Hunter is set to become one of the most interesting rookies to watch during the 2025-2026 NFL regular season.
The Heisman Trophy winner will be one of the seventeen players who will be attending the first round of the NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, starting Thursday April 24th.

The NFL praises Travis Hunter ahead of the NFL Draft
The NFL didn’t hold anything back when it came to describing Travis Hunter‘s ceiling on the league: according to the league, he’s the most complete player in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s a player that will give any team 100% effort on both sides of the ball, as a wide receiver and a cornerback.
“Travis Hunter has world-class athleticism that shines on both sides of the ball. Over the past two seasons, Hunter has averaged 111 snaps per game, making big plays after big plays, no matter where he lined up. As a wideout, Hunter has the talent to run routes at all three levels, and has outstanding ball skills.” said the league in a video posted on their social media.
“As a defensive back, Hunter excels on coverage, whether is zone or man-to-man. He’s also a sharp tackler, with nearly 100 career stops. Scouts and coaches think that Hunter could use more body weight, but Hunter is a special athlete who won the 2024 Heisman Trophy.” adds the video.

Travis Hunter is described as an exciting two-way player whose world-class athleticism and ball skills help him shine on both sides of the ball. He’s viewed as an instinctive, natural football player with a feel for making the biggest plays at the biggest times.
“On offense, Hunter gets by on talent over technique but will need to smooth out the journey from press release to catch with better route running. He has the burst to uncover over three levels with ball skills and catch focus that are reminiscent of DeVonta Smith in his Heisman Trophy-winning season.” the NFL scouting report states.
It adds that Hunter‘s cornerback tape was solid in 2023 and improved across the board in 2024. He takes his skills and instincts from receiver and transfers them to cornerback, where they amplify his ball-hawking talent and production. Hunter plays with excellent anticipation from man or zone with burst and playmaking range that should terrify quarterbacks.
