With the 2025 NFL Draft just days away, the Dallas Cowboys are keeping their options open, not just on draft boards, but also on the trade front.
Despite holding 10 picks across seven rounds, the team appears to be eyeing ways to upgrade beyond what’s available on draft day.

Cowboys eyeing bold moves
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed Tuesday that the front office has been working on “two pretty substantive trades,” signaling that Dallas could be active before or after Thursday’s opening round in Green Bay.
The Cowboys currently hold the No. 12 overall pick in the first round and nine more selections across the remaining six rounds.
“We’re looking at two things that could happen before or after the draft,”Jones told reporters during his annual pre-draft press conference.
“Two pretty substantive trades. Been working on today.”
While Jones didn’t provide specifics on potential targets or trade partners, his remarks immediately sparked speculation among fans and media alike.
However, at least one rumored move appears to be off the table.
Reports connecting Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton to Dallas have been dismissed, with NFL Network’s Jane Slater calling the speculation “fake news,” citing sources familiar with the situation.
This is the second time in recent weeks Slater has had to shut down trade talk, having previously debunked a rumor involving quarterback Dak Prescott being sent to Cleveland.
Dallas heads into the draft with over $37 million in cap space, although a significant portion will be allocated to rookie contracts and other roster costs.
The team’s offseason has been quiet in terms of big-name additions, with the most notable moves being the acquisitions of Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, Dante Fowler Jr., and a pair of former first-rounders in Kenneth Murray Jr. and Kaiir Elam.
Despite that, Jones appeared confident in the franchise’s track record.
“We’re one of the best drafting teams in the NFL. I’ll say that. We are,” he stated.
Cowboys fans, however, remain cautious.
“Jerry and ‘substantive trades’? I’ll believe it when I see it,” one fan posted online.
Another added, “Who wants to wager they don’t or that any trade isn’t ‘substantive.'”
Others were more critical: “Jerry needs to let go and have a real GM/front office run the show without meddling.”
Still, even skeptics are keeping an eye on what unfolds.
With Jones teasing last-minute moves, the pressure is on for the Cowboys to deliver in a pivotal offseason. Round 1 of the NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 24.
