LOS ANGELES — Rams general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay aren’t ready to rule out a potential reunion with their former star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the pair indicated on Tuesday.
Snead and McVay were asked about Ramsey, who has played the last two seasons in Miami, during their pre-draft news conference.

“He’s a great player,” McVay said. “We know him very well … we know him intimately. You would certainly never rule out the possibility of that. …
“There’s a lot of layers that would need to be worked out with a player of his magnitude, and some of the different things that accompany that. But you would never eliminate the possibility of adding a total stud.”
Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier let it be known that the team and Ramsey were mutually willing to part ways, if a trade emerged. The Dolphins traded a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long for Ramsey in 2023, about one year after he helped the Rams win a Super Bowl in Los Angeles. That trade was for financial reasons as the Rams gutted their costly defense ahead of the 2023 season.
Ramsey, a three-time All-Pro who turned 30 this season, also previously started in L.A. alongside cornerback Darious Williams, who will enter the second year on a three-year deal signed last spring.
Snead said that he had already spoken with the Dolphins as a part of the pre-draft process, when teams gauge each others’ interest in possible trade infrastructure. He added that the Rams have a few players in mind on that point, but declined to expand more on that topic. Snead also expects other teams to be interested in Ramsey.
McVay and Snead reiterated that their focus is with the draft this week, before they reconvene with their pro personnel department. Cornerback is a need for a group that currently features Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes but largely plays in nickel and some dime personnel.
Ramsey signed a three-year extension with Miami in 2024 that made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL at that time. An acquiring team would owe him $21.1 million in 2025 unless the Dolphins absorbed some of that salary. If traded, he will have played 27 games in his two seasons in Miami with five interceptions, 16 pass breakups and 82 tackles.

Other coaches with strong ties to Ramsey around the NFL include Raheem Morris (his former defensive coordinator in L.A., now the Atlanta Falcons head coach), Ejiro Evero and Jonathan Cooley (now the defensive coordinator and pass game coordinator in Carolina) and Brandon Staley (now the defensive coordinator in New Orleans).
