Loňský šampionát hostilo Finsko a ze zlatých medailích se radovali mladíci Kanady, když ve finále přestříleli USA 6:4. Bronz si odvezlo Švédsko po vítězství nad Slovenskem. Čeští hokejisté podruhé za sebou do bojů o medaile nepostoupili, naposledy se mezi nejlepší čtyřku vešli v roce 2022 v Německu.
Letos je v základní skupině B hrané ve Friscu, čekají souboje s USA, Německem, Švýcarskem a Švédskem. Z pětičlenných skupin do play off postupují čtyři nejlepší mužstva, zbylé dva nepostupující týmy si to rozdají o udržení v elitní divizi.

Největší zastoupení v letošní nominaci mají tuzemské soutěže – extraliga a juniorská nejvyšší soutěž, z nichž na šampionát dorazí hned 13 hráčů. Osm zástupců pak mají zámořské juniorské ligy, tři hokejisté dorazí z Finska a jeden ze Švédska.
