It’s been a little over two months since the Buffalo Bills’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, where once again Josh Allen fell just one step short of reaching the Super Bowl and chasing the franchise’s first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The last pass Allen threw in that game wasn’t caught by first-round tight end Dalton Kincaid, even though the quarterback practically placed it right in his hands. Now that the Bills have returned to training, Josh Allen mentioned that the game “still weighs on me.”
Buffalo Bills fans booed and cursed after Josh Allen was drafted and the video still stings
At the start of free agency, Josh Allen signed a six-year contract extension worth $330 million, with $250 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid player in the NFL. This deal came after a season in which he was named MVP for the first time in his career.
Josh Allen knows he must improve his connection with Keon Coleman
The Bills’ quarterback knows that one of the keys to success next season is his connection with Keon Coleman, who will be entering his second year and showed some flashes of potential last season, despite dealing with injuries.
Coleman contributed with 29 receptions, 556 yards, and four touchdowns. However, his production in the playoffs wasn’t great, and Allen mentioned that one of the offseason priorities is improving their connection.
“We’ve had a couple of conversations, and he knows he wants to get better,” Allen said, according to WGR 550. “He sent me a few long messages telling me he wants to improve, and we’re going to keep working really hard to get on the same page. He’s incredibly talented, very athletic, he’s already put on some weight and gotten a bit stronger, so I’m excited to see his progress. He’s still very young and has a lot to learn when it comes to the nuances of the wide receiver position, so I’m really excited about his future because his talent is exceptional.”
The Bills also added Joshua Palmer from the Los Angeles Chargers, but the fact remains that the team needs a true number-one receiver for Allen-and they may look to select one in the first round of the draft.
