Narea Nevado y Maite Zubieta son dos de las futbolistas con más proyección que acababan contrato con el Athletic Club el próximo 30 de junio. Sin embargo, el club ha decidido activar -de manera unilateral- un año de prórroga, tal y como estaba pactado, teniendo en cuenta el crecimiento del equipo y el valor de ambas jugadoras ahora mismo en el mercado. Con cláusulas de tres y cuatro millones de euros, todos los equipos interesados en ambas tendrían que negociar con la entidad rojiblanca o ambas jugadoras seguirán siendo leonas, al menos, hasta junio de 2026.
Nevado llegó a Lezama en la temporada 2016/2017 tras formarse en el Santurtzi y pasar por el Bizkerre. Debutó con el primer equipo el 22 de septiembre de 2018 y desde entonces suma 107 partidos oficiales y cinco goles, siendo la jugadora revelación del pasado curso liguero.

Su proyección, que le ha hecho llamar a las puertas de la selección española absoluta (por ahora ha jugado en todas las categorías inferiores), ha llamado la atención de los grandes equipos de Europa, que han preguntado en las últimas fechas por su situación. Aunque las mejores ofertas, económicamente hablando, han llegado desde Inglaterra, a nivel nacional también ha suscitado interés en algunos equipos. Destaca el nombre del Real Madrid, que incluso antes de que se barajara la posible salida de Olga Carmona a final de temporada, ya tenía en Lilo -como la apodan- en su agenda.
Aunque desde el entorno de la futbolista han tratado la posible liberación de la cláusula, que en su caso son tres millones, el Athletic ha comunicado oficialmente este viernes la renovación por objetivos de la lateral izquierdo. “El Athletic es y será el club de mi vida”, confirmaba la futbolista en estas páginas. Así que, salvo giro de guión inesperado, Nevado seguirá ejerciendo como leona al menos durante un año, luchando en lo que resta de temporada por la clasificación para Europa y así poder jugar la Champions League con el equipo de su vida.

Zubieta llegó a Lezama en la temporada 2018/19 para formar parte del cadete, pero no tardó en subir escalones hasta debutar con el primer equipo el 3 de diciembre de 2022. Desde entonces, la todocampista suma 74 partidos oficiales y un gol (esta temporada frente al Deportivo). El 29 de mayo, el Athletic Club anunció la renovación de la jugadora de Busturia hasta el 30 de junio de 2025, si bien se reservaba la opción unilateral de sumar una temporada más en función de objetivos. Aunque no lo ha hecho hasta la fecha, se espera que el club rojiblanco active esta opción, limitando su salida a una venta. La cláusula de rescisión fijada es de cuatro millones de euros, cifra que echa para atrás a los numerosos equipos que se han interesado por la futbolista.
La evolución de la internacional española -candidata a formar parte de la lista de 23 convocadas para la Eurocopa del próximo verano-, así como su polivalencia (puede actuar tanto de mediocentro como de central), no ha pasado desapercibido para las direcciones deportivas de los grandes equipos de Europa que han preguntado por ella en las últimas semanas: Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United… Todos ellos parecen resignados a dejar pasar la oportunidad, pero amenazan con volver a la carga el próximo 1 de enero (momento en el cual la futbolista podría negociar) para pujar por una de las joyas del mercado nacional.
