Ein Wechsel zu Aston Villa wäre eine echte Kehrtwende im Poker um de Bruyne. Zuletzt wurden die Diskussionen um einen Wechsel auf einen anderen Kontinent immer heißer.
Vor allem in der US-Liga MLS stehen die Vereine Schlange! Messi-Klub Inter Miami, bei dem die englische Fußball-Ikone David Beckham (49) als Eigentümer das Sagen hat, besitzt sogar die sogenannten „Discovery Rights“ für De Bruyne – eine Art Vorkaufsrecht in der amerikanischen Liga. Auch Chicago Fire, DC United und New York City FC sollen bereits ihr Interesse hinterlegt haben.
Fakt ist: De Bruyne hat Manchester City in den vergangenen neun Jahren geprägt wie kaum ein anderer. 2015 kam er für 76 Millionen Euro vom VfL Wolfsburg nach England. Unter Pep Guardiola (54) entwickelte er sich zur Schaltzentrale des Erfolgs-Teams. Sechs Premier-League-Titel, fünf League Cups, zwei FA-Cups und ein Champions-League-Triumph sprechen eine klare Sprache.
