A polícia do Equador resgatou, na noite da última quinta-feira, a esposa e o filho de cinco anos de Jackson Rodríguez, lateral do Emelec, que foram sequestrados e estavam mais de 24h em cativeiro. Segundo o general Pablo Dávila, os sequestradores exigiram 500 mil dólares pelo resgate, mas nenhum valor foi pago para a liberação da família do jogador de 26 anos.
— Após uma efetiva ação investigativa e operacional da Polícia do Equador, conseguimos libertar Andrexy Karelis O. e seu filho, familiares de Jackson Rodríguez, em El Fortín, Guayaquil. Eles haviam sido sequestrados em Mucho Lote, e os sequestradores exigiam uma quantia elevada de dinheiro para sua libertação — escreveu a Polícia nas redes sociais.
A investigação para identificar e prender os responsáveis pelo sequestro ainda continua. Acredita-se que os autores do crime sejam membros da organização criminosa “Los Tiguerones”, que opera naquele setor noroeste da cidade e que também realizou o ataque a uma emissora de televisão em janeiro de 2024.
De acordo com a imprensa local, a mulher e a criança foram examinadas por um médico em um centro de saúde para garantir que estavam bem após o ocorrido e voltarem para casa. Ainda na delegacia, Jackson Rodríguez reencontrou sua família e deu um longo abraço na esposa e no filho de cinco anos.
O sequestro ocorreu por volta de 3h da manhã de quarta-feira. Indivíduos arrombaram a porta e entraram na casa do jogador em Guayaquil, mas Jackson Rodríguez conseguiu escapar por se esconder embaixo da cama e ficou sob proteção policial, enquanto acontecia a investigação.
Após a liberação dos famíliares de Jackson Rodríguez, o Emelec se pronunciou e agradeceu “o trabalho eficaz de investigação e operação realizado pela Polícia Nacional”. Além disso, o atual 11° colocado do Campeonato Equatoriano pediu “respeito à privacidade e intimidade da família neste momento”.
