Randi Mahomes passes on her words of wisdom to the mothers in the 2025 NFL Draft by reflecting on her experiences when Patrick Mahomes was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017.
The 49-year-old watched her eldest become a professional football player when he was picked 10th overall and headed to the Arrowhead Stadium, where he has since become a three-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Super Bowl MVP.
Now regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, he’s penned to a $450m deal with the Chiefs. Whether he knew this level of success was due, he’s come a long way from the 22-year-old who was selected by Brett Veach eight years ago.
And in a moment of touching perspective, Randi recalled her emotions from that night at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and passed on a message to all of the mothers watching their babies graduate from college football.
“Draft day 2017 – the day everything changed,” Randi posted to Instagram. “Can’t believe it’s been 8 years since this moment with Patrick. Watching his journey unfold has been the greatest gift.
“As another class of dreams comes true tonight, I’m sending love to ALL the mamas out there soaking in their own draft day memories!”
Fans react to the message
The NFL mom posted a photo of herself and her son to go with it, as the Chiefs QB wore a teal green top, gold chain and a white baseball cap as they headed to Chickies and Petes bar.
Randi, meanwhile, chose to rock a frilled shirt with a black denim blazer jacket adorned by golden pins and blue jeans. The post earned 7577 likes on social media as fans loved the post.
One user commented, “History was made.”
A second added, “Forever thankful for him being our QB1. Thank you for rasining an extraordinary human”
And a third said, “I love this mother, son picture.”
