Canelo Alvarez is having the time of his life in Saudi Arabia with help from Mike Tyson

It’s almost Cinco de Mayo, which means a Canelo Alvarez bout is around the corner. In what has become a yearly tradition, Alvarez is set to fight during the weekend of the holiday. But this one will be much different than the rest. For the first time in his life, Alvarez will be fighting in Saudi Arabia.

Due to a four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh, Canelo must fight in Riyadh, foregoing his usual Las Vegas venue and entering a new territory. Alvarez’s next fight isn’t considered to be an overly dangerous one. William Scull will battle him for all of the super middleweight titles, but his resume isn’t great. Thankfully for Scull, Alvarez won’t have his usual home field advantage.

Like a sheikh! Canelo welcomed with flowers in Saudi Arabia ahead of his big fight

Canelo Alvarez has made himself at home in Riyadh

Many have wondered how Canelo will acclimate to his new surroundings, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue with the fight a week away. Alvarez landed in Saudi Arabia a couple of weeks ago, and shared a story on Friday riding around carefree with some old and new friends, blasting Mexican music.

Alvarez appeared to get some help in the process from Mike Tyson. Raul Arreola, who shared the video with Alvarez in the car, also posted a photo of the same car at the Mike Tyson Boxing Club in Riyadh.

That club was the first of its kind and opened at the end of 2023. Tyson makes frequent appearances there. And it seems like Canelo is making himself at home, too.

NFL Draft: Ranking QBs taken in Rounds 1-3 since 2023 by situation, including Cam Ward, Tyler Shough

Imagn Images The 2025 NFL Draft is officially in the books, and this year's event wasn't without its share of drama. All eyes were on Colorado's Shedeur Sanders as he slipped from consensus first-round target into Day 3, but plenty of other big names found some surprising homes. That includes Sanders' fellow quarterbacks like Tyler Shough, who could end up opening 2025 as the New Orleans Saints' starter; and Jalen Milroe, who's set to watch and learn behind Sam Darnold in the Seattle Seahawks' new-look offense.Talent and smarts alone can certainly elevate young quarterbacks out of the gate. Just look at what C.J. Stroud did in 2023, or what Jayden Daniels did in 2024. More often than not, however, NFL quarterbacks are only as effective as their supporting casts -- their playmakers, their protection, their coaching, etc. And that might […]

Longtime L.A. Kings broadcaster Nick Nickson embracing final playoffs before retirement
