The first day of the 2025 NFL Draft, held April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, provided plenty of surprises to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Among them, the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ bold strategy to secure Colorado two-way talent Travis Hunter was the one that generated the most buzz around the league and on social media.
The Jaguars struck an ambitious deal with the Browns to move up from the fifth pick to the second overall in the draft, giving up several key picks in the process. They put all their faith in Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, whom they see as a key piece in redefining the team’s future.

The last-minute strategy caught everyone by surprise, as more than 24 hours after the move, everyone still has their doubts about the Khan family’s approach.
Another group of Brown fans were not happy with the decision, as they felt Hunter was the right player to lift the Cleveland franchise.
A former NFL player disagrees: Brown’s master class
Chase Daniel, former quarterback and current NFL analyst, disagrees with some critics of the move and believes it was a smart strategy on the part of the Browns.
“You’re not going to believe what I’m going to say. I love what the Browns did. Hunter plays two positions, but neither of them is a privileged position, like quarterback, where you’re the quarterback, where the defense is, and that’s what I was suggesting, that those are the most important positions in the NFL, they’re the toughest positions in the NFL”.
The Browns made a smart move by signing Mason Graham, the best tackle in the draft, and regaining their 2026 first-round pick. Although they gave up Travis Hunter, they are believed to be thinking long-term, stockpiling talent with an eye on next year’s promising quarterback class. The decision was surprising, but it seems well thought out, Daniel explained on “The Facility”.
The truth is that the debate continues and seems to be very divided, with some applauding Jacksonville‘s decision and others criticizing Cleveland. Without a doubt, they gave us a memorable moment in the NFL Draft.
