Randi Mahomes forgets NFL rivalries and celebrates Travis Hunter draft move

Travis Hunter‘s dream night at the 2025 NFL Draft became about much more than football.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars made their bold move to select the talented two-way star as the No. 2 overall pick, it wasn’t just a win for Hunter – it was a powerful moment for his family, especially his mother, Ferrante Edmonds.

In a beautiful show of support that transcended NFL rivalries, Randi Mahomes, mother of Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, joined in the celebration.

At the Ultimate Sports Parent Brunch held during the Draft festivities, Randi and Ferrante shared a proud moment together, both dressed in vibrant red.

Taking to Instagram, Randi posted, “Another big congratulations to Travis Hunter for being the second pick in the Draft! My girl [Ferrante Edmonds] @justicesforall and I were matching in the red at the brunch! Loved connecting with such a fabulous Mama!”

The image of the two mothers side-by-side captured the pure joy of seeing years of sacrifice finally pay off.

Ferrante Edmonds’ emotional tribute to her son

Ahead of the big night, Ferrante took to Facebook to reflect on her son’s long journey.

“Tonight… I don’t need sleep. I need to sit in the presence of every prayer I ever prayed for my son. I remember the scraped knees… The late-night practices… The dreams that felt too big for the room,” she wrote.

Her words carried the weight of every late-night drive, every sacrifice, every moment of hope that had led to this point.

The Jaguars, under GM James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen, made an aggressive move to ensure Hunter would be theirs, trading the No. 5, No. 36, and No. 126 picks in 2025, plus a first-rounder in 2026, to move up.

Coach Coen made their intentions crystal clear, saying, “We’re going to set that up that way from a schedule, from an operations standpoint, the way that we’re going to operate for him, to set him up to have the most success that he can, then help the Jacksonville Jaguars become the best version of ourselves.”

Even before NFL stardom was within reach, Hunter showed his heart off the field. In 2024, he surprised his mother with a brand-new five-bedroom house in Savannah, upgrading from the modest three-bedroom home where five kids once squeezed into every corner.

It was a powerful birthday gift that showed just how much he valued the family that believed in him from day one.

Now, with a projected rookie contract worth $46.5 million – including a signing bonus north of $30 million – Hunter is set to turn dreams into generational wealth. He’s already begun his journey, visiting Jaguars facilities and starting preparations for his NFL career close to his West Palm Beach roots.

But as the celebrations continue, it’s clear that this moment wasn’t just about football. It was about honoring the people behind the scenes. And for Ferrante Edmonds, sitting alongside Randi Mahomes, it was a powerful reminder that some bonds go beyond rivalry – they’re built on love, perseverance, and the belief that anything is possible.

Why NASCAR teams said no to the ‘run what you brung’ All-Star Race idea

TALLADEGA, Ala. — Recent editions of the NASCAR All-Star Race have, to many around the sport, felt rather uninspiring, prompting questions on how to revive something that is supposed to be a “can’t miss” event on the Cup Series schedule.Responding to this criticism, NASCAR recently proposed allowing teams to make performance modifications to their cars that otherwise would not be permitted in a points race. In racing parlance, next month’s non-points All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway would be turned into a “run what you brung” race. AdvertisementSome limitations, however, were to remain in place. Safety components to the car would have to stay as-is, and teams also could not make any tweaks to certain aspects of the car, including the engine and tires, or alter any parts supplied by NASCAR-approved vendors for the Next Gen car, according to team competition […]
