The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, remains a vital support for more than 42 million low-income people who receive this food assistance benefit in the United States.
As in every state in the country, in Florida, beneficiaries receive assistance every month, helping the population that needs it most, as long as they are eligible to receive this support.

The entity in charge of administering SNAP is the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), through the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), although each of the states is responsible for the distribution of SNAP benefits throughout the year.
In Florida, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) oversees the program and ensures that eligible residents receive their benefits for the 12 months of 2025.
Eligible people are provided with an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which works in a similar way to a debit card.
Funds are loaded onto the EBT card, and the amount provided can be used to purchase a variety of nutritious foods, which are on an essential list that includes proteins, cereals, fruits and vegetables, helping low-income families to maintain a balanced diet and avoid health problems related to poor nutrition.
However, there are some limitations, as it is not permitted to use SNAP benefits to purchase hot or prepared foods, alcohol, tobacco or non-food items such as petrol and household products.
However, be careful, as violation of these guidelines can be sanctioned even with the suspension of your benefits.
