Travis Hunter is ready to make a big statement on the NFL, as the cornerback/wide receiver is enjoying his first days as a rookie in the league.
The former Heisman Trophy winner and standout with the Colorado Buffaloes – lead by Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders – went No. 2 overall at the 2025 NFL Draft, selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He got game! Travis Hunter basketball skills make some wonder if he would try to make it in the NBA
A team lead by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, running back Travis Ettiene Jr., and defensive linemen Arik Armstead, is looking to bounce back after having an awful season with a 4-13 record that had them on third place of the AFC South, missing the playoffs.
Travis Hunter’s basketball skills are top notch
Travis Hunter played basketball in high school for Collins Hill in Suwanee, Georgia, where he showed that he has the skills that a decent NBA player has, including impressive dunks, massive ball handling and the talent to make incredible passes.
And he showed his baller game at Colorado multiple times, including when he got to the University two years ago. He posted a video on his YouTube channel where we can see Travis dressed as a referee, and we can see he’s the best basketball player on the court.
After all, Hunter was the most decorated player in a season in college football history, winning eight major college football awards, including six trophies, the consensus National Player of the Year, the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp Award, as well as National Player of the Year by AP and Sporting News.
Jaguars and Hunter are ready to win
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen is ready to have full trust on Travis Hunter, and he’s ready to prove it as he’s open to have the former Heisman Trophy winner play on both sides of the field, as a cornerback and a wide receiver.
“We know he’s going to be able to do both,” Coen said. “We feel that in our bones. We’re going to set that up that way from a schedule, from an operations standpoint, the way that we’re going to operate for him, to set him up to have the most success that he can, then help the Jacksonville Jaguars become the best version of ourselves.”
“I’ve just got to go out there and prove them right,” Hunter said after being picked by the Jaguars. “It’s definitely a lot of motivation. They sacrificed a lot to get me. That means they believe in me. That just validates that I need to go ahead and just do my job.”
