Zunächst der Bundesliga-Pflichtsieg in Wetzlar – jetzt richtet sich der Fokus auf den großen Traum vom Final Four!
Mit dem 32:29 in Wetzlar hielt der SC Magdeburg den Anschluss im Meisterkampf. Doch ab sofort zählt nur noch die Champions League. Am Donnerstag (18.45 Uhr/Dyn) steht das heiße Viertelfinal-Rückspiel in Veszprem (Ungarn) an.
Trainer Bennet Wiegert (43) bringt es am Dyn-Mikrofon auf den Punkt: „Wir können jetzt wieder den maximalen Fokus auf die Champions League legen und wissen, wie schwer das in Veszprem wird und dass wir eine bessere Leistung benötigen, das ist allen klar.“
[–>Der Grund: Gegen Wetzlar hatte Magdeburg in der ersten Hälfte große Probleme im Positionsangriff, im Sechs-gegen-Sechs. In der zweiten Halbzeit kreiert der SCM zwar viele Chancen, scheitert dann aber oft freistehend am Pfosten. Das darf in Veszprem nicht passieren.
Nach dem 26:26 im Hinspiel lebt der Traum vom Final Four weiter – und Wiegert setzt auf die Routine seiner Jungs: „Ich glaube, dass es ein Vorteil sein kann, dass wir das kennen. Wir kennen das jetzt über mehrere Saisons. Wir kennen keine anderen Pläne. Wir wissen, wie die Taktung ist, wir haben da Routinen gefunden, um damit professionell umzugehen. Ab Montag werden wir uns mit Veszprem beschäftigen und dann Mittwoch nach Veszprem reisen.“

Dort will der SCM den Einzug ins Final Four perfekt machen. Denn der Glaube daran und das Vertrauen in seine Mannschaft sind bei Wiegert ungebrochen: „Wenn ich jetzt nicht sage, dass wir das schaffen, wer soll es dann sagen? Ich bin Fan meiner Mannschaft.“
Der Star-Trainer ergänzt: „Ich weiß, welche Qualität sie hat. Ich weiß, was sie imstande ist, zu leisten. Ich glaube ganz fest, dass das 26:26 ein gutes Ergebnis für uns ist und wir alle Chancen haben, weiterzukommen.“
Jetzt müssen die SCM-Jungs ohne ihren verletzten Anführer Matthias Musche (32, Achillessehnenriss) in Ungarn genau das beweisen…
