Both sides lost their only Champions League finals. Arsenal reached the finale of the competition in 2006 and became the first London squad to make the finals. Jens Lehmann’s fateful red card in that match left The Gunners with 10 men against Barça, yet they nearly pulled it off with Sol Campbell’s strike in the 37th minute. Barcelona ultimately triumphed, 2-1, with late goals in the 76th and 80th.
PSG’s final appearance came in the pandemic-altered 2020 edition, falling short to Bayern Munich, 1-0, in its continental treble run. Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the match.
In present time, PSG and Arsenal each look hungry. Mikel Arteta’s group pushes the attack and holds its own out of possession. Bukayo Saka was brilliant against Real Madrid in the quarterfinals, and the Londoners thoroughly beat the defending champs 5-1 on aggregate. Luis Enrique will counter with meticulous aggression, and Ousmane Dembélé has been absolutely diming in Champions League play:

These two have already tangled in the league phase of this competition, with first-half scores from Saka and Kai Havertz securing a 2-0 Arsenal win. PSG created more shots (9 to 5) and nearly 65 percent of the possession, but Arsenal operated with efficiency and thrived in set pieces.
Arteta’s message for the fans: get involved.
“I told them and I’m not exaggerating, guys, bring your boots, shorts and shirts and let’s play every ball together,” he said. “If we want to do something special, that place has to be something special that we haven’t seen. I really hope everyone that comes tomorrow to the Emirates, and everybody that is watching us, brings that energy.”
The Arsenal strategist played for PSG on loan from 2001-02. He was also mentored by Enrique when both were with Barcelona. There’s no shortage of intrigue for this particular matchup.
Arsenal couldn’t catch Liverpool for the Premier League title, but it can get a momentous first Champions League triumph. PSG has had a decorated title campaign in Ligue 1, but its unbeaten stretch was spoiled by a surprising 3-1 home loss to Nice on Friday.
