Prezident FIA Muhamad Sulajím naznačil možnou změnu pravidel, konkrétně přílohy B Mezinárodního sportovního řádu. V tom se uvádí pokuty za sprostá slova a jiné kritizované postihy závodníků všech šampionátů spadajících pod FIA.
Na sociální síti Instagram zveřejnil Sulajím příspěvek, ve kterém vysvětluje, že současné znění sportovního řádu konzultoval se závodníky všech sedmi šampionátů FIA a dostal od nich podnětnou zpětnou vazbu.
Současné znění pravidel je platné od začátku aktuální sezony. Podle něj se nadávky v průběhu oficiálních akcí a závodů trestají přísněji než dosud a za opakované prohřešky hrozí jezdcům zákaz činnosti. Základní pokuta za první prohřešek je 10 tisíc eur (asi čtvrt milionu Kč), ale ve formuli 1 se automaticky všechny pokuty násobí čtyřmi, takže už první prohřešek znamená milionový flastr.
Prvním pokutovaným jezdcem se stal Francouz Adrien Fourmaux. Ten po nevydařeném závodě rallye vynadal sám sobě a neštěstí bylo na světě. Ostatní jezdci se ho zastali a po vzoru GPDA (odborová asociace pilotů F1) založili vlastní jezdeckou asociaci. V rámci Rallye Safari v Keni pak částečně bojkotovali rozhovory s novináři.
Podobný přístup volil po poslední Velké ceně Saúdské Arábie i úřadující mistr světa Max Verstappen. Ten se kvůli obavě z pokuty a nepochopení veřejnosti odmítl vyjádřit k incidentu z první zatáčky, kterou si zkrátil, získal výhodu před Oscarem Piastrim a byl za to odměněn pětisekundovou penalizací.
Všechny tyto incidenty naznačovaly, že Mezinárodní sportovní řád je potřeba upravit. Jinak by se klidně mohlo stát, že jezdci úplně přestanou komunikovat s veřejností ze strachu z potenciálního trestu. K dohodě s FIA už dospěli jezdci rallye a možná se brzy změní i Mezinárodní sportovní řád jako takový.
„Jako bývalý jezdec rallye rozumím tlaku, který je na sportovce kladen snad víc než na kohokoli jiného. Nicméně příloha B je klíčovou částí Mezinárodního sportovního řádu a je stěžejní pro zpřístupnění našeho sportu všem fanouškům,“ obhajuje pravidla Sulajím.
„Lidé vytvářejí pravidla a stejně tak je mohou i vylepšit. Vždy jsem věřil v princip postupného zlepšování a stojí u zrodu všeho, co ve FIA děláme.“
