Blíží se konec Jacka Doohana jako jednoho z hlavních jezdců Alpine? Australský nováček do letošní sezony vstupoval pod velkým tlakem. Byl jasnou dvojkou týmu za Pierrem Gaslym a na záda mu dýchali hned tři rezervní a testovací piloti. Paul Aron, Rjó Hirakawa a především Franco Colapinto.
Právě poslední jmenovaný je díky zkušenostem z minulé sezony v monopostu Williamsu hlavním favoritem na Doohanovo místo. Po pěti Velkých cenách se však stále častěji mluvilo o tom, že stáj dá Australanovi víc času a místo bude mít jisté minimálně do letní přestávky. Jenže stačila dvě slova a situace se změnila.
Horacio Daniel Marín, generální ředitel a prezident argentinské energetické společnosti YPF, která Colapinta sponzoruje, byl hostem zpravodajského kanálu A24. Moderátor se ho zeptal, kdy čeká 21letého Argentince debut v nové stáji. Na to Marín několikrát zopakoval, že neví. Rozhovor skončil, následovala znělka s logem pořadu, když se do stále běžícího mikrofonu ozvalo „En Imola“ – v Imole.
Závod na italském okruhu je naplánovaný na 18. května a předchází mu víkendová Velká cena Miami. Znamená to tak, že Doohana čeká v Miami poslední závod po boku Gaslyho?

Letošní sezona seriálu formule 1 začala 16. března Velkou cenou Austrálie a končí 7. prosince v Abú Zabí. Titul mezi jezdci obhajuje Nizozemec Max Verstappen z Red Bullu a mezi stájemi britský McLaren.
Odpověď není jasná. K debutu nemusí vůbec dojít, nebo může jít o premiéru v autě Alpine v rámci pátečního volného tréninku. Každá stáj má povinnost během tréninků nasadit v každém svém monopostu dvakrát nováčka. Pro Doohanův vůz má už ale stáj tuto povinnost splněnou a navíc se Colapinto za nováčka pro tyto účely nepovažuje – má více než dva starty ve Velkých cenách.
I přesto by rodák z městečka Pilar v tréninku nastoupit mohl, aby získal zkušenosti s novým vozem pro pozdější část sezony. Vyloučit se jistě nedá ani jeho nasazení do závodu. Odpověď se pravděpodobně dozvíme nejdříve po Velké ceně Miami.
