Když se u týmu během tří měsíců protočí tři hlavní trenéři, je jasné, že si klub prošel složitou sezonou, která vyústila ve fiasko v Lize mistrů i na Spenglerově poháru. Zbývala jediná záchrana, po třinácti letech ovládnout tu nejdůležitější soutěž, což se ještě na začátku března zdálo jako utopie.

Pardubice si zaslouží kredit, jak se pod Miloslavem Hořavou po tragickém závěru základní části dokázaly zvednout. Díky krizi zmizely z radaru, nikdo příliš nepočítal, že by se mohly nastartovat až do finále, a to z Východočechů smylo nepříjemný tlak.
Jenže tíhu posledního duelu před vlastními fanoušky opět nezvládli. Jasně, možná stačilo využít jedinou šanci z drtivého úvodního tlaku a všechno by bylo jinak. Ale hokej není vždycky spravedlivý. Nutno podotknout, že od stavu 0:1 už domácí hráli v obrovské křeči a nervozita svázala jejich hokejky. Prohra tak nakonec byla zasloužená.

Vidět Romana Willa, jak i počtvrté dostává na krk stříbrnou medaili, nebo sledovat brečícího srdcaře Jana Mandáta, to jsou obzvlášť pro pardubické fandy kruté obrázky. Je potřeba ocenit alespoň slova Mandáta i kapitána Lukáše Sedláka, kteří s respektem ocenili sílu Komety a soupeři pogratulovali.
Další druhé místo je však každopádně pro Dynamo a zejména Petra Dědka slabá útěcha. Majitel klubu totiž opět dostal signál, že stále nenamíchal mistrovský koktejl. A tak se dá čekat, že spousta pardubických hráčů nebude v následujících nocích klidně spát. Ani ti s platnou smlouvou.
