Campeão do mundo pela seleção brasileira, Ricardo Rocha afirmou que neste momento não escolheria Wesley, do Flamengo, para ser o lateral titular do time canarinho. Em sua avaliação, há a necessidade de uma segurança defensiva maior naquela posição.
Neste cenário, o ex-zagueiro apontou para Danilo, que já atuou neste setor e que, nos últimos anos, optou para ser convocado como zagueiro.
“Eu jogaria com ele, hoje eu jogaria com o Danilo. A seleção brasileira é muito ofensiva hoje, o lateral-direito do Flamengo é rápido, tem muita velocidade, mas a gente precisa organizar nossa defesa. Ali vejo muitos problemas de marcação”, relatou Ricardo Rocha, em entrevista ao “Galvão e Amigos”, da Band.
“O ideal é começar de trás para frente, com uma seleção forte, até porque lá na frente temos atletas para resolver”, completou.
Na última Data FIFA, o então técnico Dorival Júnior chamou Wesley. O camisa 43 atuou por alguns minutos na vitória por 2 a 1 sobre a Colômbia e foi titular na derrota para a Argentina, por 4 a 1, em Buenos Aires.

Considerado por Danilo o futuro da seleção brasileira, Wesley tem recebido alguns ‘toques’ do seu novo companheiro de Flamengo. O atleta de 33 anos é um dos mais experientes do elenco e acredita no potencial do lateral.
“Eu procuro, de certa forma, falar para o Wesley aproveitar o momento.” Para onde eu vou, que time vai me comprar, se eu vou ficar aqui. Aproveita, porque você ainda tem coisa para construir no Flamengo. Você está tendo a oportunidade de se ver para todo mundo, de já jogar na seleção brasileira. Eu me vejo quando tinha 21 anos. Só falo para aproveitar o momento porque é muito especial”, contou Danilo.

Possivelmente sem Wesley, o Flamengo enfrenta o Botafogo-PB, na quinta-feira (1/5), às 20h (de Brasília), no estádio Castelão (MA), pelo jogo de ida da terceira fase da Copa do Brasil. Em razão do desgaste de alguns jogadores, a tendência é que o técnico Filipe Luís opte por preservar os titulares.
