Pero Svitolina recuperó el break. Campeona hace una semana en Ruán, igualó el partido y aunque no pudo evitar que su rival se hiciera con la manga, el partido pasó a ser diferente.
En el segundo set Aryna volvió a cobrar ventaja. Consiguió mantenerla hasta lo que parecía casi el final. Sin embargo, cuando sacaba con 5-4 para ganar el partido Elina le devolvió el ‘break‘. Consiguió recuperarlo de inmediato y cerrar el partido.
Antes, Lorenzo Musetti acabó con la aventura del ‘lucky loser’ canadiense Gabriel Diallo al derrotarle por 6-4 y 6-3 en los cuartos de final masculinos. El italiano aseguró una plaza en el ‘top 10’ pese a que el canadiense, con un físico teóricamente desgastado por la gran cantidad de partidos, y varios a tres sets, disputados, había jugado ya.
Diallo incluso tuvo ventaja de 4-2 en el primer set, pero seis juegos seguidos de Musetti decantaron el partido. Musetti buscará ante Jack Draper su segunda final de Masters 1.000 este año, tras haber caído ante Carlos Alcaraz en la de Montecarlo.
