Las perspectivas de que el coche de este año cambie rápido son escasas en este inicio de temporada, pero Fernando Alonso confía en que puedan darse pasos adelante “en las próximas carreras”. Lejos de estar frustrado, el asturiano vuelve a rubricar la decisión de Adrian Newey de centrarse en el trabajo de 2026, que es ingente a estas alturas, donde de verdad puede dar lo mejor y cambiar el sino de Aston Martin con un golpe de timón maestro.
Fernando se reafirma y apoya la decisión tomada por el gurí de la F1. “No tengo el conocimiento ni la experiencia de un diseñador de carreras como él, no sé todo el tiempo que se debe dedicar… Él preferiría haberse unido al equipo hace un año para empezar también con 2026, seguro que piensa que llega tarde, así que entiendo que se centre en el coche del año que viene. Porque el coche de 2025 él no lo diseñó, no lo tocó, no creo que dependa de él arreglarlo”, valora sobre su decisión, que encuentra lógica y natural.
Pero eso no quiere decir que se dé por perdido el año. De hecho confía en dar pasos adelante con el actual coche con la llegad a Europa, aunque el proceso se ha ralentizado. Poner cosas por ponerlas no entra en plan de este año.
“No somos tan competitivos como queríamos y esperábamos. No hay solo una razón, son varios factores que han hecho el coche difícil en cuanto a ritmo, no tan rápido como otros de la zona media que han subido el nivel y están más cerca del top-4. Nosotros no dimos ese paso. Aunque el campeonato es largo, tenemos que reaccionar, hacer las cosas mejor. Y espero que en las próximas carreras demos ese paso adelante, pero ha sido más difícil de lo que creíamos”, revelaba el 14 en Miami, donde afronta la sexta prueba del Mundial de F1 , 2025.
“Nunca he perdido la confianza, no estoy muy preocupado con 2026. Este año es la continuación de algunos problemas que ya tuvimos en las últimas dos temporadas, no superamos algunos de esos obstáculos. Para el año que viene, con las reglas nuevas, con Adrian a bordo, nada de este coche estará en el proyecto de 2026 y es un reseteo completo así que no estoy muy preocupado. Y para este año, la solución no es tan clara y no hay nada que podamos hacer en una noche”.
Su encuentro con Newey en la fábrica
Aston colgó unas fotos en las que aparecían Fernando y Newey charlando en la factoría de Silverstone y el español lo ha comentado a la prensa internacional en Miami este jueves.

“Estuve en la fábrica, comí con Adrian, tuvimos algunas conversaciones pero no mucho sobre este año, fueron conversaciones generales sobre el equipo y sobre cómo se ha sentido en estas primeras semanas en Aston, los cambios que puede haber en el equipo para tener un mejor futuro bajo su experiencia y es emocionante hablar con él y poder trabajar con él, fue un gran día”, recordaba. Hay buena sintonía entre ambos por lo que parece.
