Čtyřiatřicetiletý Savard už před začátkem vyřazovacích bojů oznámil, že po sezoně kariéru uzavře. V základní části NHL odehrál 870 zápasů s bilancí 54 gólů a 188 asistencí. Deset let nastupoval za Columbus, odkud v sezoně 2020/21 odešel do Tampy Bay a získal s ní Stanleyův pohár. Od dalšího ročníku nastupoval za Montreal.
Po středečním utkání ocenil Savarda na tiskové konferenci i kouč Washingtonu Spencer Carbery. „Byl to velký bojovník hodně hodně dlouho. Má za sebou působivou kariéru. Byla to čest se s ním utkávat,“ řekl trenér.

Michigan State announced Thursday that it was making a change at athletic director.Alan Haller’s last day as the school’s AD will be on May 11. Men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo will serve as the co-interim athletic director along with deputy athletic director Jennifer Smith.
