Sperbeck succumbed to injuries sustained in a golf cart accident in La Quinta, California, on April 23. The incident occurred as the two friends, along with their wives and Elway’s son, were leaving a Stagecoach music festival party.
Sperbeck reportedly fell from a moving golf cart, suffering a traumatic brain injury after hitting his head on asphalt. According to TMZ, Elway, who was driving the cart at the time, immediately called 911. When paramedics arrived, Sperbeck was unconscious but still breathing. He was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and placed on life support but sadly passed away four days later.
