Podobné scény bývají k vidění spíše při fotbalových oslavách titulu, ale na hokeji, obzvlášť ve spíše umírněném Švédsku se podobné věci často nedějí. Šéfka komunikace nejvyšší švédské soutěže SHL Johanna Albaová připustila, že situace s fanoušky nebyla dobře zvládnutá.
„Pravidla a směrnice jsou jedna věc, ale víme, že fanoušci chtěli oslavovat se svým týmem,“ vysvětlovala Albaová pro deník Aftonbladet.
„Bezprostředně po závěrečném hvizdu to nevypadalo, že by mělo dojít k invazi na led – spíše až po skončení ceremonie. Proto hráči Brynäs zůstali ještě chvíli na ploše. Jakmile ale začali lidé vcházet na led, okamžitě jsme zajistili, aby hráči rychle odjeli, a bezpečnostní personál byl okamžitě u hráčů i trenérů hostů a pomohl jim odejít,“ dodala mluvčí.
List Expressen uvádí, že hokejisté Brynäs ani nemohli převzít na ledě stříbrné medaile, přestože na to byli připravení. Po přívalu fanoušků z tribun ale prchali do kabin. Příznivce domácích museli pořadatelé vyzývat, aby se uklidnili a nedošlo k nějakému neštěstí.
