K celé situaci došlo jen pár vteřin po úvodním gólu zápasu, o který se postaral právě Vardy. Pro osmatřicetiletého ostrostřelce a bývalého anglického reprezentanta šlo už o 199. trefu v dresu Lišek. Jubilejní dvoustá zatím musí počkat minimálně do příštího kola.
„Už před zápasem jsem mu říkal, že zbývají dva góly. Proti Southamptonu jeden dal a s tím druhým mu pomůžu. Je obrovskou legendou klubu, zaslouží si to,“ řekl pro BBC Sport jeho spoluhráč Bilal El Khannouss.
O druhý zásah Leicesteru se postaral Ayew – právě hráč, s nímž se Webb srazil. Souboj dvou týmů směřujících do druhé anglické ligy tak skončil přesvědčivým vítězstvím domácích.
