Legenden-Dämmerung bei den Bamberg Baskets. Die Easycredit Basketball Bundesliga hat einen neuen Rekord-Spieler. Klub-Urgestein Karsten Tadda (36) machte beim 73:75 (53:58) gegen die MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg sein 638. Spiel – und zog damit mit dem bisherigen Rekord-Halter Alex King (40) gleich.
„Insgesamt zeigt mir die Zahl, wie lange ich schon in der Liga spiele. Wie verletzungsfrei die Karriere für mich lief, weil ich denke, ohne solche Geschichten wäre die Zahl nicht zustande gekommen“, sagte Tadda bei Dyn.

Im Fußball ist Frankfurt-Idol Charly Körbel (70) mit 602 Partien der Rekordhalter. Tadda und Bamberg verbindet eine ähnliche Liebe.
Tadda wurde im Bamberger Verein ausgebildet und stand dort im Fanblock. 2007 gab er sein Profi-Debüt und gewann zum Profispieler auf und gewann mit seinem Heimatverein von 2010 bis 2012 das in der Liga einzigartige Triple Double (drei Jahre in Folge Meister und Pokalsieger) sowie 2013 und 2015 zwei weitere Meisterschaften. Tadda schaute nie nach Angeboten aus dem Ausland, spielte zwischen 2015 und 2023 in der BBL für Gießen, Ulm, Oldenburg und Bonn. Bevor der Ex-Nationalspieler (89 Länderspiele) im Herbst seiner Karriere nach Bamberg zurückkehrte, gewann er 2023 als Kapitän mit den Bonnern auch die Champions League.
„Ich bin stolz auf das, was ich geleistet habe, was ich für eine Karriere hingelegt habe“, sagte der geerdete Franke. „Vielleicht werde ich es in ein paar Wochen realisieren, wenn die ganze Sache hier vorbei ist.“
In der Brose Arena gratulierte auch Alex King seinem Freund: „Das ist eine unglaubliche Karriere. Karsten ist ein Mensch, ein Spieler, der immer mit Herzblut für seinen Verein gespielt hat. Er war immer der Spieler, der die Mannschaft zusammengehalten hat. Er hat die Mannschaft geführt und nach vorne gebracht. Das zeichnet ihn aus. Und dass er dafür seinen Körper geopfert hat, die ganzen Jahre.“

Typisch Tadda: Nach der achten Heimpleite und den verpassten Play-offs entschuldigte er sich bei den 4527 Fans: „Ich glaube unsere Fans hätten es verdient, dass wir auch zu Hause mal wieder ein Spiel gewinnen. Die geben sich hier wirklich jedes Spiel Mühe, uns anzufeuern und wir schaffen es nicht abzuliefern. Das ist wirklich schade. Diese 638 ist da für mich zweitrangig.“
In den zwei verbleibenden Hautrunden-Partien in Ulm (8. Mai) und gegen Vechta (11. Mai) kann Tadda nun noch an King vorbeiziehen und alleiniger Rekordhalter werden. Sein Ziel: „Ich will die beiden Spiele einfach noch gewinnen. Alles andere ist für mich zweitrangig.“
Auch in Zukunft wird Tadda den Bambergern erhalten bleiben. Ab der kommenden Saison fungiert er als Nachwuchskoordinator im Freak City Bamberg e.V. sowie als Markenbotschafter.
