Since then, quarterbacks have come and gone, wide receivers have shined, and running backs have cause sensation with a Dallas uniform on, but none of them have been able to take the franchise owned by mogul Jerry Jones to the promised land. That’s the biggest challenge ahead of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Cowboys’ Schottenheimer imitates his daughter’s boyfriend
During one of his press conferences, Schottenheimer talked about something that bothered him and that it was said by his daugher’s boyfriend. “I’ll say somebody’s name and he’ll be like ‘Oh yeah, that’s muy guy’. And I’ll be like, ‘it’s not your guy, you don’t even know him’, you know? And it’s like, Clarence probably says that about some of you, ‘Oh, that’s muy guy’.
The head coach went on to say that even though he knows his players, he doesn’t know them as well as he needs to in order to build trust and chemistry that can take the Dallas Cowboys to the next level. “I’m constantly going out of my way, bringing guys up to my office, going to dinners to get to know these guys,” he stated.
“I think I’ve always been someone that believes in connections, getting to know these guys,” Schottenheimer added. “I’ve always been someone who’s been able to be demanding and I’m pretty good at disciplining guys. I promised myself, when I got this opportunity, that I wouldn’t change, because I think I’ve seen too many people change.”
Cowboys rookie says he’s a natural born leader
The Dallas Cowboys selected offensive lineman Tyler Booker with the No. 12 pick overall, and the Alabama Crimson Tide standout is tasked with representing the balance struck between impact player and leader of men… and Booker is not backing down from the major challenge with “America`s team.”
“To be the leader of this [rookie] group, I take a lot of pride in that,” said Booker. “I’m just a natural born leader so, with my fellow rookies, I’m excited to continue to learn and grow with them.” The big man is joining a Cowboys‘ organization that is undergoing a sweeping change within the coaching ranks.
According to his NFL scouting report, Booker is a downhill run blocker with average explosiveness into first contact, but he utilizes his size and power to overtake defenders in the second phase of the block. He can play too far out over his toes but that’s correctable. As a whole, he is an average athlete in protection but makes up for it with technique and football intelligence to defend against twists.
