Fifa anuncia América-MEX x Los Angeles FC por vaga no grupo do Flamengo no Mundial de Clubes

O Léon tentava reverter sua exclusão pela Fifa, que apontou conflito de interesse por ter o mesmo proprietário do Pachuca, outro clube no torneio. Já a equipe costarriquenha foi a primeira a recorrer, alegando que merecia a vaga no torneio com base na sua posição no ranking da Concacaf.

“A FIFA recebeu uma decisão tomada pelo TAS de rejeitar as apelações feitas por CF Pachuca, Club León e Asociación Liga Deportiva Alajuelense em relação ao Mundial de Clubes da FIFA 2025”, informou a entidade em comunicado. E continuou, explicando os motivos qu a fizeram escolher os dois clubes que vão disputar a vaga: “De acordo com as regras aplicáveis ​​do torneio, a FIFA decidiu que o time a ser incluído como substituto do Club León será determinado em uma partida de mata-mata entre o Los Angeles FC (vice-campeão do Club León na Copa dos Campeões da Concacaf em 2023) e o Club América (o time da Concacaf com melhor posição no ranking da confederação para o Mundial de Clubes da FIFA ao fim da Copa dos Campeões da Concacaf de 2024, a última temporada levada em conta para classificação para o Mundial de Clubes da FIFA 2025)”.

O TAS avaliou separadamente os dois casos. O primeiro foi movido pelo Alajuelense, que pleiteava a classificação antes mesmo da exclusão do León. Posteriormente, o clube onde atua James Rodríguez entrou com uma apelação, defendendo que, apesar da ligação societária com o Pachuca, possui estrutura de gestão autônoma, o que, segundo seus advogados, justificaria sua permanência na competição.

Além do Flamengo, o Grupo D conta com Espérance de Tunis, da Tunísia, e Chelsea, da Inglaterra.

Por comunicado, o clube América afirmou respeitar a decisão emitida pela Fifa e pelo TAS, e ressaltou estar honrado pela oportunidade.

“No Club América, respeitamos as resoluções emitidas pelas autoridades esportivas internacionais e estamos honrados por termos sido escolhidos para lutar, em campo, por uma vaga no caminho para a Copa do Mundo de Clubes de 2025. Por isso, enfrentaremos com decisão o convite que a FIFA nos fez. Estamos muito interessados em representar o México e nossos grandes torcedores no Mundial de Clubes de 2025”, informou o clube.

Ambos os clubes brigavam por uma vaga no Grupo D, que já conta com Flamengo, Espérance de Tunis, da Tunísia, e Chelsea, da Inglaterra. Agora, a Fifa deve seguir com sua ideia inicial de realizar uma partida entre América-MEX, clube melhor colocado da Conmebol no ranking de clubes, e o Los Angeles FC, que foi vice-campeão da Concachampions vencida pelo León em 2023, para definir quem herdará o lugar na competição.

Após a decisão do TAS, o León classificou, por meio de uma nota oficial, a sentença como “muito severa” e apontou que “nenhum princípio esportivo esteve presente neste caso”. Além disso, o clube mexicano afirmou que participar do Mundial de Clubes nunca foi uma questão de poder ou dinheiro e que conseguiram a vaga dentro de campo. (Veja a nota oficial no fim da matéria).

Confira a decisão do TAS

“O Tribunal Arbitral do Esporte (TAS) rejeitou os recursos interpostos pelo Club León, Club de Fútbol Pachuca (Pachuca) e Asociación Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (LDA) contra as decisões da FIFA em relação à Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA 2025.

O Comitê de Apelações da FIFA decidiu em março de 2025 que o Pachuca e o Club León violaram o Regulamento da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA 2025 (Art. 10.1) relativo à propriedade múltipla de clubes. Devido a essa violação, o Secretário-Geral da FIFA decidiu remover o Club León da competição. O Pachuca e o Club León entraram com recursos buscando anular a decisão do Comitê de Apelações da FIFA e declarar que os clubes cumprem os requisitos de elegibilidade para a Copa do Mundo de Clubes. O Club León entrou com um recurso adicionalcontra a decisão do Secretário-Geral da FIFA de ser reintegrado à competição.

Todos os recursos foram consolidados em um único caso do CAS, que foi ouvido na sede do CAS em Lausanne, Suíça, em 5 de maio de 2025. O Presidente do Painel do CAS para este caso foi o Prof. Roberto Moreno (Paraguai), com o Prof. Massimo Coccia (Itália) e o Dr. Daniel Cravo Souza (Brasil) como coárbitros.

O Painel do CAS emitiu uma Decisão Operacional rejeitando os três recursos e decidiu que o Pachuca e o Club León não atenderam aos critérios do Regulamento da Copa do Mundo de Clubes da FIFA 2025 (Art. 10.1) relativos à propriedade múltipla de clubes. O Painel examinou as provas, incluindo o fundo fiduciário do Club León estabelecido pelos proprietários do clube, e concluiu que este era insuficiente para cumprir o Regulamento. Consequentemente, o Club León permanece excluído da competição e o Pachuca permanece qualificado. Uma Sentença do CAS completa com os motivos da Decisão será emitida oportunamente.

Um recurso separado da LDA contra o Club León, o Pachuca e a FIFA, interposto em 3 de fevereiro de 2025, solicitou que a participação do Club León e do Pachuca no Mundial de Clubes fosse contrária aos regulamentos da FIFA e que um dos clubes, ou ambos, fosse removido. O recurso também solicitou que a LDA fosse admitida na competição no lugar de uma equipe removida. Este caso foi ouvido pelo CAS presencialmente em Madri em 23 de abril de 2025 e também foi rejeitado hoje, com os motivos a serem apresentados posteriormente na sentença final. O Presidente do Painel do CAS para este caso foi o Prof. Roberto Moreno (Paraguai), com o Sr. David Arias (Espanha) e o Sr. Juan Pablo Arriagada (Chile) como coárbitros. Como resultado da decisão do CAS, a FIFA é responsável por designar a equipe final qualificada para participar da Copa do Mundo de Clubes de 2025.”

“A sentença foi muito severa, os adversários muito influentes, a pressão extremamente intensa e os interesses altíssimos; como instituição, assumimos o custo e as consequências de um processo como este, mas quem mais sofreu durante esse percurso foi o nosso povo: torcedores e jogadores mereciam mais respeito por parte de um organismo dedicado a promover o esporte, mas desde o início, nenhum princípio esportivo esteve presente neste caso.

Para o Club León, participar do Mundial de Clubes nunca foi uma questão de poder ou dinheiro — lutamos até o fim para estar lá porque, como organização esportiva, buscamos a glória que só pode ser conquistada, defendida e merecida dentro de campo.

O dinheiro vai e vem, o tempo se recupera, o jogador continua lutando e o torcedor jamais abandona, mas a honra — essa não se toca: nas últimas semanas, fomos apontados, estigmatizados e difamados. Esse é o maior dano causado a um time que sempre competiu com humildade e honestidade.

A história do Club León é muito simples: jogar com coragem, vencer com justiça e competir com lealdade. Só nos resta voltar a vencer para recuperar em campo o lugar que nos foi tirado — não tenham dúvida: enquanto ninguém nos impedir novamente, nós o faremos.

Sabemos que um time terá de nos substituir no Mundial de Clubes. Desejamos que os valores esportivos que neste caso não levaram esse time até lá, sejam honrados e respeitados — que não possam ser vendidos por alguém, nem comprados por ninguém.
