Nico Williams and Inaki Williams will both miss the second leg of Athletic Club’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Manchester United.
Nico missed Sunday’s Basque derby against Real Sociedad in La Liga, while his older brother Inaki was withdrawn in the 62nd minute of the 0-0 draw.
A statement from Athletic on Wednesday confirmed the 30-year-old would miss the match with a thigh injury, while no official update has yet been provided on Nico, 22, who has not been included in Ernesto Valverde’s travelling squad.

Athletic’s attacking shortcomings are compounded by the absence of Oihan Sancet, who also missed the first leg in Bilbao. The 25-year-old is the Basque club’s top scorer this season with 17 goals across all competitions.
Gorka Guruzeta is likely to start as a central striker, with Alex Berenguer, Unai Gomez and Alvaro Djalo — who replaced Inaki on Sunday — likely to occupy attacking midfield positions.

Valverde’s side will also be without the suspended centre-back Dani Vivian through suspension following his red card in the first leg.
United are in a commanding position in the tie thanks to their three-goal first leg victory, with Casemiro and a double from Bruno Fernandes giving them victory in Bilbao.
