Mai in München) steht.

What Ryan Pressly is working to correct after a historically bad outing

CHICAGO — Just as it seemed the Cubs had finally found a group of trusted relievers, their veteran closer delivered a historically bad performance on Tuesday evening. In the 11th inning of a 14-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants, Ryan Pressly faced eight batters, all of whom reached base and eventually scored.AdvertisementIt was a disastrous outing that raised questions about Pressly’s effectiveness, particularly his ability to miss bats. Before Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to the Giants — a game in which five relievers worked four shutout frames — pitching coach Tommy Hottovy met with reporters at Wrigley Field.Hottovy suggested Pressly needed to get more in-game work regardless of the situation. But did that mean Pressly’s struggles were pushing him out of a high-leverage role for the time being?“No,” Hottovy said. “I just think we have to get him consistent work. […]

Arch Manning has blue-blood pedigree. Now he just needs more snaps to become a blue-chip NFL Draft prospect

Arch Manning enters the 2025 season with fanfare that I really don’t feel the need to reiterate here. Manning is the last name. Yes. That family of Mannings. Yes, he’s named Arch because … you get it.Laying it out as bare as possible: A quarterback with fewer than 100 career passing attempts in college enters the season aboard a rocket ship of hype and discussion about how good he is and how his future will unfold. Not only for the next year or so, at least, in Austin, Texas, but for the years beyond that wherever his landing spot may be at the next level.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhile I hate to spoil my own article, what Arch Manning displayed over two and a half games of extended playing time in 2024 has all the indicative arrows pointing to a blue-chip quarterback prospect for […]

There were plenty of warning signs pointing to a George Pickens exit in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers made waves Wednesday morning, as news broke that the team had traded star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Even though the news itself was breaking, there were plenty of clues that fans could have pieced together indicating that Pickens' time in the 'Burgh could be short-lived.Immaturity concerns from the startComing out of Georgia, Pickens had been tabbed with some immaturity concerns, and those showed up at times throughout his three-year tenure with the Steelers.
