Wenige Tage vor der Eishockey-WM in Herning (Dänemark) und Stockholm (Schweden) grübelt Bundestrainer Harold Kreis (66) mit seinem Trainerteam noch über die Zusammenstellung seiner Reihen. Die Kriterien: Wer harmoniert mit wem? Wer kennt sich aus dem Verein? Wie finden Abschlussstärke, Schnelligkeit und defensive Stärken am besten zusammen?

Topstürmer Leo Pföderl (31), Spieler des Jahres in der abgelaufenen DEL-Saison und erneut Meister mit den Eisbären Berlin, hat für SPORT BILD seine Wunschformation aufgezeichnet. Im Sturm sieht er sich auf Rechtsaußen neben Mittelstürmer Lukas Reichel (22/Chicago) und Linksaußen Yasin Ehliz (32/München). Mit Reichel spielte Pföderl früher in Berlin zusammen, mit Ehliz in Nürnberg.
„Zuletzt habe ich mit Marc Michaelis als Mittelstürmer gespielt“, sagt Pföderl. „Aber bei der letzten WM war Lukas Reichel ja anfangs nicht dabei. Bei den Eisbären hat es mit ihm in einer Sturmreihe perfekt geklappt.“

In der Abwehr stellt Pföderl seinen Berliner Klubkollegen Jonas Müller (29) neben NHL-Profi Moritz Seider (24/Detroit). Statt Müller schreibt Pföderl mit einem Lächeln „Es Müllert“. „Er ist erfahren und hat eine Topsaison mit viel Eiszeit hinter sich“, sagt Pföderl.
Nur auf der Torhüterposition legt er sich nicht fest und schreibt „Niederbauer“ – eine Kombination aus Mathias Niederberger (32/München) und Philipp Grubauer (33/Seattle). Auch mit Niederberger spielte Pföderl schon zusammen, von 2020 bis 2022 in Berlin.
[–>Bei der WM fallen wichtige deutsche Führungsspieler aus. Kapitän Moritz Müller (38/Köln) zog sich im DEL-Finale eine Schulterverletzung zu, Berlins Kai Wissmann (28) brach sich die Hand. Und Stanley-Cup-Sieger Nico Sturm (29) steht mit den Florida Panthers in den NHL-Play-offs.
Doch Bundestrainer Kreis sieht genug Spieler im Team, die als Leader vorangehen sollen: „Wir haben eine große Auswahl an Spielern, die im Klub und in der Nationalmannschaft eine tragende Rolle gespielt haben. Niemand scheut sich, Verantwortung zu übernehmen. Moritz Seider ist ein absoluter Führungsspieler, aber auch Maxi Kastner, Patrick Hager, Jonas Müller, Frederik Tiffels und Marc Michaelis.“
Neu im Team sind unter anderen die beiden Berliner Eric Mik (25) und Korbinian Geibel (22). Insgesamt stehen sieben Meisterspieler der Eisbären im deutschen WM-Aufgebot. Sie sollen mit ihrer Euphorie die anderen anstecken.
Vor einem Jahr schied die deutsche Mannschaft bei der WM im Viertelfinale gegen die Schweiz (1:3) aus. 2023 wurde man sensationell Vize-Weltmeister. „Unser Minimalziel ist das Viertelfinale“, sagt Kreis. „Ich bin sehr begeistert von unserer Mannschaft.“
Zum Auftakt geht es am 10. Mai (16.20 Uhr) in Herning gegen Ungarn. Die weiteren Gruppengegner sind Kasachstan (11. Mai), Norwegen (13. Mai), die Schweiz (15. Mai), die USA (17. Mai), Weltmeister Tschechien (19. Mai) und Gastgeber Dänemark (20. Mai). Die ersten vier Teams ziehen ins Viertelfinale ein. Die WM wird von ProSieben, MagentaSport und Sportdeutschland.TV übertragen.
