„Jsem na tým hrdý, byť jsme vypadli. Když se podíváte na oba zápasy, nejlepším hráčem na hřišti byl brankář PSG. Udělal ten rozdíl. Liga mistrů je o hře v šestnáctce. V obou zápasech tam byli lepší útočníci PSG a jejich brankář,“ řekl pro TNT Sports trenér Arsenalu Mikel Arteta.
Donnarumma za 180 minut inkasoval od Arsenalu jediný gól, v odvetě ho za stavu 2:0 překonal zblízka Bukayo Saka. V obou zápasech měl 8 zákroků, z toho 4 mimořádné. Hned tři v Paříži.
V úvodu reflexivně vyrazil střelu Gabriela Martinelliho z pěti metrů, následně zázračně lapil dělovku Martina Odegaarda. V 65. minutě vytáhl světový zákrok proti technické střele Saky, která neomylně směřovala do šibenice. „Jeho zákroky byly geniální. Po střele Saky už šel Arsenal slavit na půli, Donnarumma se tam ale rukou dostal a míč vyrazil. Nemám slov,“ uvedl ve studiu Oneplay Sport bývalý brankář Slavie Kamil Čontofalský.
„Arsenal odehrál skvělý zápas, my jsme hodně trpěli. Podržel nás Donnarumma. Během obou utkání jsme ale vstřelili více gólů než soupeř, což je ve fotbale nejdůležitější. Postoupili jsme zaslouženě,“ pronesl kouč PSG Luis Enrique.

Mužem středečního zápasu byl sice vyhlášen autor druhého gólu PSG Achraf Hakimí, byl jím ale bezesporu Donnarumma. „Měli jsme spoustu šancí, finální fázi jsme ale nezvládli. Smekám před výkonem Donnarummy, předvedl úžasné zákroky. Právě on má hlavní podíl na naše vyřazení,“ povzdechl si kapitán Arsenalu Martin Odegaard. „Byli jsme v odvetě lepší, ale nebylo nám souzeno. Donnarumma byl neuvěřitelný,“ dodal záložník Declan Rice.
Arsenal měl v Parku Princů xG 3.14, což je nejvíce z týmů, které proti PSG v této sezoně Ligy mistrů stály. Celkem v Paříži natočil 19 střeleckých pokusů. Od března 2016 jich pouze v jednom utkání Champions League vyslal víc (20 proti Barceloně). Donnarumma dovolil anglickému týmu jediný gól.
