„Bylo vidět, že má velké bolesti,“ řekl později Friedl. Jeho tým nesouhlasil s verdiktem, který potvrzoval, že situace je brána jako nechycený míč. Soupeř tak mohl bodovat.
„Pokud se současně nebo bezprostředně po kontaktu s míčem srazí s hráčem, se zdí nebo pokud spadne a v důsledku takové srážky nebo pádu upustí míč, nelze to uznat jako chycení,“ připomínají zámořská média znění pravidel.
„Absurdní,“ podivoval se marně Friedl.
Callihan, již dříve draftovaný Reds, po chvílích štěstí zažívá zkázu. Teprve před necelým týdnem povýšil mezi elitu, když přešel do MLB z Triple-A Louisville. Teď bude dlouho na listině zraněných.
