Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl says the club were surprised by Leroy Sane changing his agent during contract talks.
Sane is out of contract at the end of 2024-25 and while Bayern have been in talks to extend his deal with the club, Eberl has said they would be prepared to “move on” if no satisfactory solution is agreed upon.

Eberl said Bayern had a “good relationship” with 29-year-old Sane’s new agent Pini Zahavi, but added that the switch away from Christian Schmid of 11Wins had come “as a bit of a surprise” to the club.
“We thought we were very far along,” said Eberl, via the club’s website. “We’ll see how things develop. Our wish would be to extend Leroy’s contract, but we’ve also set ourselves a framework. We’ll see what happens.”
Eberl added: “We have a clear idea and thought we were on the right track. Of course, we’re talking to the new agency. There’s no bad blood; the players are free to make their own decisions. We’re very clear.
“Leroy’s performances in recent weeks have been very good; he’s shown that he’s committed to Bayern Munich. We hope he does it, and if not, we’ll move on there as well.”
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany said he was only focused on Sane’s sporting output and confirmed the two had spoken about the club’s plans for next season.
“I’m staying out of everything else,” Kompany said. “I understand that a player has concerns. It’s an important phase in his life. For me, it’s important that the boys perform well, and Leroy has done that.”
Sane has scored 13 goals and provided four assists across 43 appearances this campaign for Bayern, whom he joined from Manchester City in 2020 and has scored 62 goals across five seasons.
The former Schalke forward has scored 14 goals in 69 appearances for Germany.
Bayern have regained their Bundesliga title this season following Bayer Leverkusen’s success last term, but lost to Xabi Alonso’s side in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 and were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Inter.
