Trotz der Niederlage gegen Spanien bleibt das EM-Ticket weiterhin in Reichweite für die Italiener, denn das Duell am letzten Spieltag in Serbien (auch 6:4 Punkte) ist ein echtes Endspiel um Platz 2 in der Gruppe hinter Spanien.
Aber auch eine Niederlage könnte Hanning mit Italien (es wäre erst die 2. EM-Teilnahme in der Geschichte des Landes) noch reichen. Denn neben den zwei besten Teams jeder Gruppe qualifizieren sich auch vier den besten Gruppendritten für das Turnier ab 15. Januar 2026.
