Jaké to je marně čekat na letišti na výstroj?
Neměl jsem radost, ale člověk s tím nemůže nic dělat. Dnes to bohužel asi nedopadne. Přitom všechno dorazilo kromě hokejové tašky. Taky mi tam mohli nechat kufr a přivézt tašku, ale dopadlo to naopak. Kdyby to dorazilo dvě hodiny nebo hodinu, tak není problém, ale vypadá to, že spíš budu podporovat kluky z tribuny. Turnaj je dlouhý, takže to není tragédie.
Po vypadnutí ze Stanley Cupu jste hned věděl, že na šampionát přiletíte?
Ano. Absolvoval jsem nějaké zdravotní prohlídky, po play off je člověk dotlučený, malá zranění má, ale není to nic závažného, co by mě mohlo zastavit. Věděl jsem, že chci přijet. Parta tu je skvělá. Proč se nepřipojit a nesnažit se zopakovat minulý rok?! Česká mentalita je jiná než v Americe. Těšil jsem se, hned první den s klukama byla sranda.
Vybavily se vám vzpomínky na Herning 2018?
Ano, bylo to moje první mistrovství. Byl jsem ještě mladej, byť neříkám, že teď už nejsem. Vzpomínky na výsledek nejsou nejlepší, ale pro mě osobně jsou vzpomínky na první mistrovství fajn. Teď se na turnaj moc těším.
Kouč Rulík zvažoval, jestli vás nezařadit na pozici centra, byť poslední roky hrajete křídlo.
Jako do 18, 19 jsem centra hrál, určitě je to možnost. Ale to se musíme pobavit s Radimem Rulíkem.
Co říkáte na obsazení turnaje, kdy za Kanadu nastoupí Crosby i váš hvězdný parťák z Colorada MacKinnon?
Vždycky to je dobré hlavně pro fanoušky. Bude to silný turnaj, těším se. S Nathanem jsme se o tom po sezoně ani nebavili, nevěděl jsem, že jede. Bylo to rychlé, ale pak jsme před odletem spolu byli na ledě.
Jak jste prožíval zlatou jízdu Komety?
Kometě jsem fandil, držel jsem jí palce. Kluků tam už tolik popravdě neznám, víc kamarádů mám v jiných týmech. Ale Kometě stejně fandím nejvíc. Bylo to krásné překvapení. Když jsme tituly získali my, tak jsme měli od začátku tým na výhru. Tady to nikdo nečekal, o to je to sladší.
MS v hokeji 2025
88. ročník mistrovství světa v hokeji je na programu v termínu od 9. do 25. května 2025. Hostit jej bude Švédsko a Dánsko, konkrétně Stockholm a Herning.
