Abel Braga é eternizado pelos torcedores do Internacional como o melhor técnico da história colorada, por ter proporcionado a primeira Libertadores para o time gaúcho em 2006. E, principalmente, pela conquista do título do Mundial de Clubes da Fifa no fim daquele ano.
Entretanto, o técnico hoje aposentado não apontou aquele time inesquecível do Internacional como o maior que comandou em sua vitoriosa carreira.
“Nosso time era de super craque? Óbvio que não, se você analisar o time do Inter. Agora, o coletivo do Inter era muito forte”, avaliou Abelão em entrevista para a Rádio Gaúcha, complementando que os jogadores colorados de 2006 eram muito representativos na parte tática.
Na sua visão, o Fluminense que foi campeão do Brasileirão Série A em 2012 foi ainda superior ao Colorado que superou o Barcelona no Japão.
“Pessoal fala assim: ‘Maior time que tu dirigiu foi o Inter 2006?’. Eu falei: ‘Não, foi o Fluminense 2012’. Não foi difícil ganhar. Quando nós pegamos o primeiro lugar, tiramos do Atlético-MG, acabou. Já foi”, pontuou Abel Braga.

“Deco cruzava e o Fred guardava”
O diretor técnico sem clube desde quando deixou o Vasco da Gama em 2023 exaltou nomes como Diego Cavalieri, Edinho, Thiago Neves, Deco, Rafael Sobis, Wellington Nem e Fred. Os atletas faziam parte do Tricolor das Laranjeiras que foi campeão brasileiro pela última vez.
“Deco pegava uma bola, pifava o Wellington Nem, acabou. Ou no Sobis ou no Thiago Neves. E o cara botou do lado do campo, cruzava e o Fred guardava”, recordou Abelão, que percebeu alguns times do Campeonato Brasileiro em oscilação na temporada.
