Diante da penalidade máxima marcada pela arbitragem, o holandês posicionou a bola na marca da cal e, de cavadinha, tentou superar Walter. Sem escolher um canto, o goleiro esteve em condições de defender o chute, algo que trouxe uma reclamação de Ana Thaís Matos.
Após o lance, Ana Thaís sinalizou o cenário de “terra de ninguém” no Corinthians. Mesmo sendo um goleiro conhecido pelo bom retrospecto em pênaltis, Walter foi subestimado por Depay, que não optou por uma batida mais segura.

Reagindo ao confronto do Brasileirão em tempo real, o Craque Neto enalteceu Walter por realizar uma leitura correta. Porém, levando em conta a chance clara do Corinthians abrir o placar, Memphis Depay não escapou de ser criticado pelo apresentador.
“O Walter fez uma grande defesa. A verdade é que se ele faz o gol, é craque. Se ele não faz o gol, é irresponsabilidade. O Walter foi muito bem, mas não pode perder o pênalti […] Ele tem obrigação de fazer o gol. Ganha R$ 4 milhões por mês”, externou o ex-jogador, em discurso na Rádio Craque Neto.
