Macháč přešel v Římě do třetího kola, narazí na nasazenou jedenáctku

Čtyřiadvacetiletý Macháč na předchozích turnajích v Monte Carlu a Madridu prohrál vždy svůj úvodní zápas. Proti devatenáctiletému Tienovi dnes sice v obou setech ztrácel, skóre ale dokázal otočit. Finalistu loňského Turnaje mistrů pro mladé hráče NextGen porazil i ve druhém vzájemném utkání. Stejně jako v březnu v Acapulcu, kde došel až k titulu, s ním neztratil ani set.

Ve 3. kole už je v Římě i Vít Kopřiva, který turnajem úspěšně prochází od kvalifikace. První zápas dnes čeká po Macháčovi ještě Jakuba Menšíka, jenž měl jako nasazený hráč na úvod rovněž volný los. Utká se s domácím Matteem Gigantem. Marie Bouzková bude mezi ženami bojovat už o postup do osmifinále, ve 3. kole nastoupí proti bývalé světové jedničce Naomi Ósakaové z Japonska.
