Tom Brady’s career has always been defined by excellence. Teammates and rivals alike recognize that the only thing a loss ever did was push him to work harder and correct his mistakes. Now, a former colleague asserts that Brady will carry that same relentless drive into his new roles in the NFL.
Widely regarded as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT), even his critics have no choice but to acknowledge his place among football’s elite. With seven Super Bowls, four NFL MVP awards, five Super Bowl MVPs, and a mountain of accolades, Brady’s legacy as a player speaks for itself.
But success never came easy. The former New England Patriots quarterback devoted countless hours to perfecting his craft, and former wide receiver Hank Baskett believes Brady will bring that same work ethic to his jobs as a television analyst and minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Brady: A born competitor
The former football player and reality TV star dismissed criticism surrounding Brady’s first season as an analyst for Fox. “Tom Brady has earned the right to do whatever he wants,” Baskett said in an interview with The Mirror US.
“One thing about Tommy-he’s the ultimate competitor. If he struggles at something, he’s going to put in the work to figure out how to be great at it,” Baskett emphasized.
He acknowledged that analysts like Tony Romo, who made a seamless transition from the gridiron to television, are rare but he thinks the Patriots great is up to the challenge, “I don’t think Brady is going to shy away from anything.”
Regarding Brady’s role as a minority shareholder in the Raiders, Baskett-who was previously married to Playboy star Kendra Wilkinson-asserted that the quarterback’s presence will usher in a new era for the team. “When you have the greatest of all time in your front office, he’s going to give you a different perspective. He’s a competitor.”
Brady thrives on overcoming failure
Baskett reflected on how failure, more than success, fueled Brady’s rise to greatness. “Tom Brady didn’t become Tom Brady until after he lost his first Super Bowl. Then you saw what really made Tom Brady go-he wanted to be the best.”
Even the former receiver took a page from Brady’s book. After his divorce from Wilkinson and his exit from reality TV, Baskett founded a company that customizes video game consoles, proving that if the Raiders follow Brady’s leadership, greatness could be within reach.
