The second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs is in full swing, and the East’s top seed now finds itself on the brink of elimination. The Indiana Pacers are up 3-1 in their best-of-seven against the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers after a blowout win on Sunday night in Game 4. The Pacers led by 41 points at halftime and will try to clinch the series in Game 5 on Tuesday. Elsewhere on Sunday, the Oklahoma Cit Thunder (the West’s top seed) evened up their second-round matchup with the Denver Nuggets, winning Game 4 on the road with a strong fourth quarter.

There are two more Game 4s on Monday. The reigning champion Boston Celtics will try to get a series-evening win against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden before the Golden State Warriors aim to do the same against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors, however, are again set to be without Stephen Curry.d

It’s been an upset-heavy second round so far, but the Thunder remain the title favorites (+130 at DraftKings). The Celtics, despite being down 2-1 against the Knicks, have the second-best title odds and are still the favorites to win the East (-125).

Will Tom Willander be the Canucks’ next star? Here’s what to expect

After an unusually drawn-out negotiation, the Vancouver Canucks finally have their guy.Tom Willander, drafted No. 11 in 2023, has signed an entry-level contract and will turn pro in 2025-26. Taking stock of the AL Central: Tigers, Royals, Guardians and Twins all look like contenders in 2025

It was about this time last year that we realized that after years of the American League Central being arguably the worst division in baseball, it had three teams that looked like they could compete. The Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians were all still in the process of discovering who they were, but each had strengths they built on en route to the 2024 postseason, in which all three won at least one series. One year later, not only are those three squads all playing like they’re ready to get back to the playoffs, but they’re also joined by another division counterpart in the scorching-hot Minnesota Twins, who had won nine straight entering the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader vs. Baltimore. What’s more, the Central appears to be the home of the best team in the American League. […]

Rockies are worst team in MLB history through 42 games, and it can get worse

<!--> With a loss on Tuesday night, the Rockies’ record now stands at 7-35. Reaching that 35th defeat after 42 games puts the Rockies in historic territory, as they’re the fastest-ever to 35 losses in a season. The previous quickest to get there was the 1904 Washington Senators, who lost their 35th 45 games in, after they had already won their eighth contest of an excruciatingly long season. If the Rockies don’t turn things around in a hurry, you’re going to be hearing a lot about the 1904 Senators for the next couple of months. That’s because the Senators, with a brief interruption, are one of the standard-bearers for "worst record through X" games, starting with the 43rd of the season up to the 91st, at which point a different team well over a century old becomes the stick against which […]

Dessers hits half-century as Rangers beat Dundee United

Cyriel Dessers scored a landmark 50th Rangers goal as the Light Blues beat Dundee United 3-1 in their final home Premiership game of the season.Amid thousands of empty Ibrox seats, defender Sam Cleall-Harding headed the Taysiders in front after 21 minutes before Dessers equalised with a header five minutes later. Dessers slotted in a penalty in the 73rd minute for his 28th goal of the season, taking his tally to the half-century since signing for Rangers from Cremonese two seasons ago, before midfielder Nicolas Raskin soon added a third. The defeat left United still in fifth spot and looking to clinch a European spot in their last game at home to fourth-placed Aberdeen on Saturday. It could have also been the final home match for Barry Ferguson, the former Rangers captain who took over as boss in February until the end of […]
