Dass Borussia Dortmund nach dem 4:2 bei Ex-Meister Leverkusen tatsächlich am letzten Spieltag die Qualifikation zur Champions League aus eigener Kraft schaffen kann, grenzt nach zwischenzeitlichem Absturz bis auf Platz 11 an ein Wunder. Es zeigt aber auch, dass der BVB-Kader nie so schlecht war, wie er teilweise gemacht wurde.
Vor allem in der Breite hat Dortmund eine Mannschaft, die nach wie vor zu den Top 3 in Deutschland gehört. Es ist der Verdienst von Niko Kovac, dass er diese PS mit sechs Siegen aus sieben Spielen im Endspurt endlich auf die Straße bekommen hat.

Die Siegesserie jetzt wahrscheinliche Qualifikation für die Königsklasse sollte allerdings nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass der BVB-Kader dennoch Veränderungen benötigt. Dafür waren die Leistungen zu inkonstant und teilweise auch erschreckend schwach – selbst wenn die Pleiten gegen Bochum, Augsburg oder Kiel jetzt weit weg scheinen.

Aber: Mit zwei, drei schlauen Transfers wird Borussia kommende Saison wieder Bayern-Jäger Nummer 1! Ein wenig mehr Tempo in der Offensive und etwas mehr Stabilität im Mittelfeld und Abwehr würden den Klub wieder ganz nach oben katapultieren. Auch, weil vor allem in Leverkusen und Leipzig XXL-Umbrüche anstehen und auch Frankfurt immer wieder seine besten Spieler verkaufen muss.
Die aktuelle Situation des BVB erinnert ein wenig an Leverkusen vor zwei Jahren: Damals hatte Xabi Alonso den Bayer in einer noch schlimmeren Krise übernommen als sie Dortmund in dieser Saison erlebt hat. Nach starker Rückrunde und Qualifikation für die Europa League holte Bayer im Sommer dann unter anderem Xhaka und Grimaldo. Der Grundstein für die anschließende Meisterschaft ohne Niederlage.
