Minulý rok se stal nejlepším střelcem švýcarské ligy. Za 52 zápasů si připsal 27 gólů a jasně si svými výkony řekl o prodloužení smlouvy v klubu Ambri-Piotta. Jeho sportovní ředitel Paolo Duca českému mistru světa lukrativní smlouvu skutečně nabídl a ta měla Kubalíkovi za pět let vynést necelé dva miliony švýcarských franků (asi 53 milionů Kč). Taková smlouva podle švýcarského novináře Klause Zaugga nemá v tamní lize obdoby, ať už co do délky, nebo do odměny.
Jenže pro tým, ve kterém Kubalík strávil s pětiletou přestávkou na angažmá v NHL celkem 3 sezony, přišla rána. Rodák z Plzně dostal ještě zajímavější nabídku. Ve švýcarské lize sice zůstane, ale přestěhuje se do Zugu. Tam je, stejně jako v Ambri, impozantní kvalita života a zdejší celek má vyšší sportovní ambice. Působí v něm navíc dva jiní Češi, Daniel Voženílek a Jan Kovář.
Zug nabídl českému útočníkovi podobné peníze jako Ambri-Piotta (má jít o 1,8 milionu švýcarských franků, 47,8 milionu Kč), ale za dva roky. Součástí smlouvy je výstupní klauzule pro případný návrat devětadvacetiletého kanonýra do NHL.
Kubalík se díky novému kontraktu stane nejlépe placeným zahraničním hráčem v historii ligy. Angažmá v kantonu Zug má ještě jednu výhodu – nižší odvody ze mzdy. „Cizinci zde mají čisté smlouvy, klub platí daně. To znamená úsporu až 30 procent oproti jiným kantonům. Nabídka sportovního ředitele Zugu Reta Kläye byla navíc lepší než nabídky všech týmů z české ligy,“ uvádí švýcarský novinář a potvrdil tak zájem předních extraligových celků.
„Pro Kubalíka je to perfektní smlouva. Po jejím vypršení mu bude teprve 31 let. Když bude mít štěstí, může být jedním z nejlepších a nejlépe vydělávajících hráčů v naší lize další tři až čtyři roky,“ myslí si Zaugg, podle něhož jde o výhodný obchod i ze strany Zugu. „Tichý, poněkud introvertní český mistr světa je vzorným profesionálem a stojí za každý cent svého platu.“
Astronomická smlouva ale nepřichází zcela bez rizika. Platové podmínky jednotlivých hráčů mohou být zdrojem napětí v kabině a přímo ovlivňovat výkony týmu. „Manažer Zugu Patrick Lengwiler a jeho sportovní ředitel Reto Kläy jsou dobří komunikátoři a vnitřní klid si dokážou udržet chytrou komunikační terapií,“ uzavírá Zaugg.
