The FIFA Museum is hosting a temporary exhibition in Zurich dedicated to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The temporary exhibition offers visitors an exclusive insight into the intricacies of the new FIFA club competition and the world’s most successful football teams.

The exhibition features objects from the first edition of the competition, including the official adidas ball, whose design pays homage to the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the host country’s flag. The exhibition also showcases the new trophy through original designs and illustrations of the design process, highlighting its innovative structure, with rotating elements and inscriptions in several languages in homage to the global reach of football.

Visitors can also discover the origins of the sport in a special display of the original 13 Laws of the Game, which are engraved on the new trophy and remain the basis of modern football. The exhibition also features the official competition regulations, team rules and items from the historic draw held in Miami last December.

The tour includes the iconic Rainbow showcase, which has been transformed to contain the jerseys of the 32 participating clubs. On the interactive touch screens placed around its perimeter, visitors can discover the path that led the teams to qualify for the tournament, the legendary players of each club and the decisive moments that marked their history.

“It’s very exciting to include football clubs for the first time in an exclusive exhibition,” said Marco Fazzone, director of the FIFA Museum. This temporary exhibition offers a unique opportunity to understand the dimensions and innovations of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, while commemorating the prolific history and achievements of the participants.”

Mirtle: Ken Holland is back as an NHL GM with Kings. It’s not the trend you might think it is

There were some of the usual grumbles on social media, the type that follow a lot of hires when they’re announced in the NHL these days.Word filtered out on Monday that the Los Angeles Kings’ next general manager was going to be Ken Holland, the 69-year-old Hall of Famer who ran the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers for nearly 30 years combined.AdvertisementSome were skeptical.“Another retread,” was the refrain. “Can’t this league hire anyone new?”If Holland were a head coach, these folks would have had a point. The NHL’s coaching carousel has devolved to the point of parody, with the same dozen or so names signing five-year deals, lasting two or three, and then moving around to different jobs while being paid by multiple teams. The average tenure of an NHL coach right now is the equivalent of the lifespan of […]

Warriors’ Draymond Green fined $50K for ‘inappropriate comment’ that appeared to reference spread in Game 3

Getty Images Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green was fined $50,000 for making an "inappropriate comment that questions the integrity of game officials," the NBA announced on Wednesday. The incident occurred late in the Warriors' loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 of their second-round series. Green fouled out of Game 3 with 4:38 remaining and the Warriors trailing by just two points. Without him, and Steph Curry, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Game 1, the Warriors fell apart down the stretch. Though they trailed by as many as nine, they ended up losing by just five and a score of 102-97. Why does that matter?Well, with 15 seconds left, the Warriors called a timeout. They were down by eight, and whatever happened on the final possession was meaningless in terms of the outcome of the game. […]
