Article arrow_drop_down

The full 2025 NFL regular-season schedule was revealed on Wednesday, and there were a ton of great nuggets to come out of it.

Everything starts off with a huge rivalry matchup on Thursday night (Sept. 4) on NBC between the Cowboys and Eagles in Philadelphia. But that’s just a start.

Among the other highlights:

  • The NFL will play seven international games: three in London; one game in Dublin, Ireland; one in Madrid, Spain; one in Berlin, Germany; and one in São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Christmas Day, which falls on a Thursday this year, will feature a tripleheader of streamers, including two on Netflix — Cowboys-Commanders and Lions-Vikings — and Kansas City-Denver on Prime Video.

The schedule for Week 18 games on Saturday and Sunday are not set until after Week 17, per the flexible scheduling rules.

Musíme to vzít a chápat. Přijeli sem ve velkém počtu a my předvedli tohle. Vyslechli jsme si kritiku,“ popisoval stoper, který utkání dokončoval s kapitánskou páskou na ruce. „Chtěli, abychom si sundali dresy. Dokud tu ale budu, dres si sundávat nebudu,“ dodal jednoznačně.Sparta vstoupila do finále bídně, už ve 4. minutě prohrávala. Další dva góly dostala v závěru první půle. Ta rozhodla, domácí po ní vedli 3:0. „Těžko se mi hledají slova, proč to tak bylo. Olomouc do utkání dobře vstoupila gólem. My jsme si pak vytvořili dvě příležitosti, kdy jsme byli sami na desítce. Colton Gordon keeps Astros’ six-man rotation afloat in major-league debut

HOUSTON — The survival of a six-man rotation relied on Colton Gordon’s left arm. His major-league debut on Wednesday night doubled as an inflection point for a pitching staff pushed to its limit. Two starters are absent due to injury and the bullpen is down a reliever by choice.Into this inferno stepped Gordon, a 26-year-old southpaw never seen within prospect rankings but with enough pitchability and pluck to pique the Houston Astros’ interest. Team officials touted his strike-throwing, six-pitch mix and a small taste of pitching in pressurized situations.AdvertisementTwo years ago, Gordon started Team Israel’s World Baseball Classic game against Team Puerto Rico. He survived just an inning and surrendered four runs, but faced Francisco Lindor, Javier Báez and Kiké Hernandez beneath a sold-out crowd at loanDepot Park cheering against his every move.“That matters,” Astros manager Joe Espada said on […]

No longer novelties, Tigers have best record in MLB: ‘I don’t think teams enjoy playing us’

DETROIT — In the first team meeting of spring training, A.J. Hinch played a video in front of a packed room. The footage amounted to a highlight reel from last season. There were all the defining moments. Parker Meadows’ home run rob in Seattle. Tarik Skubal’s strikeouts in clutch circumstances, always punctuated with his mammoth roars. There were walk-off hits and dazzling plays. But there were smaller moments, too. Matt Manning coming up and pitching as the 27th man in a rainy doubleheader. Keider Montero twirling a complete game in September. Ryan Kreidler sliding to stop a ball down the third-base line and firing across the diamond, his throw scooped by Spencer Torkelson at first.AdvertisementThe point was not to relive the exhilaration of a sterling 31-11 run. It was to show all the many moments that unfold over 162 games. To highlight […]

Mirtle: Why Maple Leafs’ Game 5 loss might be their worst one yet

TORONTO — There was nothing to like here. No redeeming qualities. No silver linings.Everyone was bad. Everyone knew it stunk. The fans booed throughout the game — at least the few thousand who didn’t get up and leave early, despite paying some of the highest ticket prices in pro sports. One threw the captain’s jersey on the ice.AdvertisementEven by Toronto Maple Leafs standards, it set a high mark for futility.“Flush it down the toilet,” was Mitch Marner’s advice for how to move past an ugly 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 5 that feels like it probably ended their season. Team president Brendan Shanahan might want to make sure the plunger is handy, though, as even the franchise’s overburdened bad-game john might reject this offering. For the first time all season, ever-unflappable head coach Craig Berube sounded somewhat shell-shocked […]
