The Minnesota Twins entered Thursday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles on a 10-game winning streak. They left with their 11th straight win, but it came at a cost.

Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa left the team’s 4-0 win after a nasty head-to-head collision. Both players are in MLB’s concussion protocol following the play, which occurred in the third inning.

On an 0-2 count, Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins lifted a ball to short center. Correa ran out to make the play as Buxton charged in to make the catch. Buxton snagged the ball, but neither player was able to avoid a collision. Buxton and Correa bumped heads in the crash.

Buxton was able to hold onto the ball despite everything, securing the out.

After the play, both players remained down on the field. Correa was removed from the contest after being evaluated by athletic trainers. He was replaced by Jonah Bride. Buxton initially stayed in the game but was removed in the middle of the fourth inning.

Later in the contest, the Twins announced both players were in concussion protocol.

Both missed time with injuries last season. Correa was limited to 86 games due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Buxton missed time with knee and hip issues in 2024. He played in 102 games last season.

After a slow start to the 2025 season, the Twins have turned things around. After Thursday’s game, the team has a 24-20 record. Despite sitting fourth in the American League Central, the Twins’ plus-28 run differential is the second-best figure in the division.

Getty Images CHARLOTTE -- There they stood in the middle of the fairway. The top two Americans in the game were easing into their first rounds of the 107th PGA Championship before, well, the mud hit the fan. It wasn't the play of a native statesman near the top of the leaderboard nor how a major championship labeled as a three-horse race opened wide Thursday at Quail Hollow Club that was the topic of conversation. Rather, it was the organic matter itself. There was nothing natural about the shots they hit. Both Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele were befuddled (at best) when their second shots veered left and into the water at the onset of The Green Mile.
